Our History
Douglas J. Clark, Founder
In 1946, Doug joined the U.S. Navy and was stationed in San Diego, California. After the Navy, he attended Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois. Doug moved to the Ormond Beach area in 1951. He built and owned/operated oceanfront motels including the Argosy Motel. He built single family homes in the Ormond Beach area during the 1950s and early 1960's. He married Lois F. Clark in 1962. He was active in the Daytona Beach Homebuilder's Association and served as it's Vice-President in 1964.
In 1965, Doug teamed up with Robert Mour and Robert Powell to form MPC Builders. The
homebuilders entered into the new mobile home industry in Port Orange, which at that time had a
population of 3,000 people. They developed Commonwealth Estates, Briarwood, Tanglewood,
Maplewood and Laurelwood Estates. They also built Rose Bay Campground and
Commonwealth Plaza. Doug was a member of the first planning commission for the City of Port
Orange in 1968.
Commonwealth Plaza was built in 1972. It housed the original Clark Properties main office and MPC's LP Gas Service. Commonwealth Plaza and MPC's LP Gas Service were later sold. Clark and Powell built and opened Maplewood Self-Storage (now Port Orange Storage) in 1983. They also built Regency Office Center in 1984 next to Commonwealth Plaza and South Daytona Storage and Offices in 1985.
D. Andrew Clark
D. Andrew Clark was born on February 1, 1964, in Daytona Beach. He grew up working in the
family business. After school and during the summers, Andrew mowed grass, cleaned pools and
helped set up manufactured homes. He graduated from Spruce Creek High School in 1982 and
the University of Florida in 1986 with a Bachelor degree in Public Relations. Andrew was hired as
General Manager of Clark Properties in November 1986. In 1987-1988, Doug Clark and Robert
Powell split up the remaining properties while Airport Storage was being built. Andrew and Doug
retained ownership of Maplewood Estates, Maplewood Self-Storage, Regency Office Center,
Airport Storage and some parcels of vacant land.
In 1988, Daytona Self Storage was purchased and Airport Storage opened for business. The
Storage Box (now Jimmy Ann Depot) was purchased in 1989, followed by Stowaway Storage
(now Nova Depot) in 1990 and Florida Records (now All Aboard Records) in 1992.
Tavern and Chapel in the Garden developed into one of All Aboard Management's finest properties, catering to a premier wedding and reception business. The Tavern was opened August of 2002 and since then, reservations require anywhere from six (6) months to a year advance notice. The train car on the estate property was refurbished and opened as a small venue in 2005.
Clark Office Building opened in 2003, as did the Shoppes in The Garden (a retail area along the estate property). In 2004, All Aboard Management sold the Riverwalk Plaza and purchased Sunshine Park Mall in South Daytona, the company's largest retail property. The Beach House properties were purchased that same year. The subsequent remodeling of the Beach Houses was halted in the fall of 2004 due to the severe hurricane season.
Several new properties were added to All Aboard Management in 2005 including 405 Charles,
Buchanan Way (properties adjacent to Sunshine Mall), Port Orange Flea Market, Kirby Way
(houses adjacent to Tavern and Chapel estate) and a number of other smaller properties to be
developed in the future.
In 2006, the beautiful new Clubhouse in Maplewood Mobile Estates opened. Reconstruction and
remodeling of the Beach Houses are also scheduled to be finished in June of 2006, adding to the
Tavern and Chapel guest venues.
